Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery Name Changes

Notice of Change – Renaming of Planters at Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery, Barry

Barry Town Council would like to inform the community of upcoming changes to the naming of two plaque planters within Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery, Barry.

Effective January 2026, the following changes will be introduced within the Garden of Remembrance:

• The existing plaque planter currently located within the Garden of Remembrance will be renamed Eastern Planter.
• The plaque planter located near the “newer” Garden of Remembrance area will be renamed Western Planter.
• The “newer” Garden of Remembrance area will be renamed Marble Garden.

These updates are being introduced to help visitors and families identify specific areas of the cemetery more easily, ensuring that the process of locating memorials is simpler and clearer for all.

The Council warmly invites any comments or feedback from members of the community regarding the proposed name changes.
