BARRY TOWN MAYOR RAISES OVER £5,000 FOR LOCAL CHARITIES
Former Mayor of Barry, Councillor Catherine Iannucci-Williams, presented cheques worth over £5,000 to her two chosen charities, Vale Foodbank and Shua Trust, at an event in Barry Town Hall.
Cllr Iannucci-Williams was Mayor of Barry between 2024-25, and raised money for the charities through a series of fundraising events during her year in office.
Speaking with representatives of the two charities at the event, Cllr Iannucci-Williams spoke about her support for Vale Foodbank and Shua Trust, and thanked everybody who supported them during the past year.
Cllr Iannucci-Williams, former Mayor of Barry said:
“I’m so proud of how much we raised for my charities this year, and would like to thank their trustees and volunteers for all the support they gave me at events throughout the year. Vale Foodbank and Shua do such important work in our community and I am so grateful for all they do.”
The Vale Foodbank opened in September 2011, with one Foodbank centre in Barry. Since then we have expanded throughout the Vale of Glamorgan so that we now have 6 centres to distribute emergency food parcels into the community.
SHUA is an acronym for Safe House for Unwanted Animals. Started in September 2001, they are a small animal welfare charity staffed by volunteers.
