LGBT+ Month, Art on-line exhibition – Politics in Art: ‘The Arc is Long’

To celebrate LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Trans) History Month, Barry Town Council are asking for the community to help celebrate the month by sending us their works of art.  The theme is Politics in Art: ‘The Arc is Long’.

Entrants will have the chance to submit their work via email, Facebook and in person to the Offices at Barry Town Council, Town Hall, King Square. The online event aims to foster artistic talent in the town and offer a platform to display local resident’s work online.

To join in the Politics in Art ‘The Arc is Long’ online exhibition, Barry Town Council are looking for pieces that powerfully convey the fight for equality and struggles of LGBTQ+ community against homophobia, empowering and championing rights for the LGBTQ+ community.

We ask that all entries will be submitted with the following information:

  • Name & Age
  • Composition
  • Originality – your ideas behind the theme.
  • Technical ability – what level of artist you are.
  • Adherence to the theme – what the theme means to you.
  • If the Piece is submitted in person, please let us know if you would like the piece returned and if so provide a contact number so we can contact you to arrange collection of the piece from Town Hall.  This information will not be shared online or with any other parties.

Please not the Art work must be Suitable for inclusion in online exhibition.

We would really like you to send us your depictions throughout the month, so we can showcase them on Facebook and on our website. Please send all entries to: engagementandevents@barrytowncouncil.gov.uk

Please:

Label you piece, stating your name, age and a brief description of your art.

Remember art can be a painting, drawing, a poem, a photo – the list goes on!
