Help shape Barry Town’s new Heritage & Community Hub

Barry has a rich heritage shaped by business and industry. In the 1800s, it grew as a busy port, exporting coal from South Wales around the world. The docks brought jobs and helped the town grow. Today, Barry has a strong local business community and is also known for TV and film, including Doctor Who and Gavin & Stacey, and amazing festivals such as Barry Town Councils Family Fun Day, GlastonBarry and Cadstock, which bring visitors and pride to the area.

As part of Barry Town Council’s Corporate Plan (2022–2027), we are planning a new Heritage Centre Hub in Barry, and we want to hear from you.

Tell us what activities, events, and services you would like to see in a Heritage Hub. Share your ideas by taking part in our survey. Your feedback will help us create a space that works for the whole community.

To take part in our survey come along and visit us at one of the many events we are holding and attending this summer, as a thank you for taking part you will have the opportunity to collect our exclusive Heritage Cards – these are 12 exclusive top trump style cards, featuring 12 iconic Barry heritage sites.
