Councillors gathered in the Mayor’s Chamber on the evening of Friday 21 March to bid a fond farewell to Chief Officer, Emily Forbes as her tenure comes to an end.
Ms Forbes joined Barry Town Council as Chief Officer in 2016. During her tenure as the Council’s Proper Officer, she has guided Barry Town Council through significant change and improvements including the construction and opening of Cemetery Approach Community Centre, moving the Council’s offices to the Town Hall, and the challenges presented by a Global Pandemic.
Following a warm introduction from Deputy Mayor, Councillor Dennis Clarke, leaders of all parties represented on the Town Council spoke fondly of Ms Forbes and their admiration for her achievements as Chief Officer, with each expressing their gratitude for the contribution that Ms Forbes has made to the Council, and for the people of Barry.
Ms Forbes spoke of her vision and ambitions when applying for the role over 9 years ago and was pleased to note that she achieved these, and many more, during her time as Chief Officer.
Barry Town Council wishes Ms Forbes every future success and happiness as she embarks on a new chapter.
