Barry Town Council’s Family Fun Day Returns in August 2026.

Barry Town Council has announced the return of its popular Family Fun Day, which is FREE for everyone to attend. On Thursday 27th August, Central Park and King Square will be transformed into a magical fantasy world, packed with interactive activities, entertainment and affordable workshops designed to keep families entertained throughout the day.

Leader of Barry Town Council, Councillor Bronwen Brooks, said:

“We are delighted to welcome the return of Barry Town Council’s Family Fun Day. This year’s fantasy theme promises a day filled with imagination, adventure and hands-on experiences for all ages. We know that the summer holidays can be an expensive time for families, so we’re proud to provide a free event with a wide range of affordable activities that everyone can enjoy together. Whether you’re meeting dragons, learning new skills or taking part in creative workshops, we hope families will spend the day making lasting memories.”

The Family Fun Day will take place on Thursday 27th August, from 11:00am until 4:00pm, with the aim of providing an affordable and accessible day out for families during the summer holidays. Visitors can enjoy an exciting programme of fantasy-themed entertainment and interactive workshops, including dragons, falconry, archery, medieval knights, storytelling sessions, giant family games, NERF activities, arts and crafts, gaming workshops, virtual reality experiences, cyber security activities and much more.

The event has been designed to encourage families to spend quality time together, trying new activities and discovering new interests, with many experiences available free of charge and others offered at low cost.

King Square will once again host a fantastic selection of food, drink, craft and community market stalls, offering plenty to browse throughout the day while supporting local businesses and organisations.

Barry Town Council’s Family Fun Day continues to be one of the town’s flagship community events, bringing together local organisations, activity providers and businesses to create a fun, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.
