Porthkerry Cemetery

Porthkerry Cemetery is located between Barry and Rhoose in the hamlet of Porthkerry. The entrance can be found next to St Curigs Church and the cemetery is separated by a wall from the churchyard.

Burials began in Porthkerry Cemetery in 1967 when it was operated under the Porthkerry Parish Council.  As the largest burial authority in the area, Barry Town Council administers Porthkerry Cemetery on behalf of the Vale of Glamorgan Council for all residents of the Vale.

There are a limited number of full graves and cremated remains plots remaining.  For more information on grave ownership please click here

Location

If using a sat nav do not use the cemetery postcode as you may be directed to Porthkerry Country Park and it is not possible to access the cemetery from this direction.  Instead use Porthkerry Leisure Park as your destination – CF62 3ZP you will see the leisure park signposted when you turn off Porthkerry Road. Ignore the turning right and go straight on down the lane. You will see a farm yard on the left and then the lane opens out into a small green area. Keep going and you will find St Curigs Church on the right and the cemetery gate is just after that.

Opening Times

  • Porthkerry Cemetery is open 365 days a year.
  • Due to unforeseen weather conditions the Cemetery may close without prior notice for health and safety reasons.
  • Notices will be displayed on the Barry Town Council website and Twitter
