Each year, Barry is lit up with festive lights across the town. The Christmas Lights started at High Street and after engagement with Traders and residents across the town, Holton Road and Park Crescent have most recently been added!

High Street are traditionally decorated with festoon lighting across the street which are celebrated with a switch-on event organised by the High Street Traders Association. Barry Town Council enjoy an excellent working relationship with High Street Traders, many of which are members of the Town Councils Shop Local Group.

Park Crescent is beautifully decorated with LED Christmas Trees and warm icicle lighting. The main focal point of this design is the wonderfully lit Christmas Tree which can be found in the balcony of the Park Hotel.

Holton Road is the newest addition to the Council’s portfolio in 2019 with a wonderful display of festoon lighting. These lights are complemented by the stunningly lit Town Hall and King Square (Vale of Glamorgan Council). Holton Road Traders Association are also active members of Shop Local and are responsible for the Christmas Light Switch-On here.

Each year, the Town Council has been responsible for the Christmas Lights across these shopping areas, but 2019 enabled us to purchase the Christmas Lights outright, thanks to a successful bid to the Vale of Glamorgan Council. The vision is to now improve the Christmas Lights across the town year on year and continue the working relationship we have built with traders and residents.
