Shop Local Barry was formed in October 2016 and is a mixture of Barry Town Councillors and independent local traders. The group meets quarterly and discusses ways in which the Shop Local message can be promoted.
The aim of the group is to create a sustainable partnership between Barry Town Council and local traders and develop Barry as a sector leader for “Shop Local” across the UK. Winner of the Local Service of the Year Award at the One Voice Wales Annual Conference, Shop Local Barry has gone from strength to strength.
The group has been the driving force behind a number of initiatives across Barry, such as the floral planters at Holton Road, Christmas lights at Park Crescent, High Street and Holton Road as well as contributing funds to a number of events such as; High Street’s Summer Fete and Christmas Light Switch on and Holton Road’s Pumpkins in the Park and Christmas Market.
