Dementia Friendly Barry

Barry Town Council is proud to be a Dementia Friendly organisation. Staff and Councillors have received Dementia Friends training and our Community Development Officer works with the group; Dementia Friends Barry to discuss and action ways in which the group can improve the lives of those living with Dementia.

Dementia Friends Barry has a varied membership consisting of us (the Town Council), Rondel House (Day Centre), Barry Library, Golau Caredig (Assisted Living), Ty Hapus (Day Centre for people with early onset Dementia) and Jane Weldon (Community Champion – Dementia Friends).

The group meet monthly and are currently working on an Intergenerational Programme (funded by the Town Council) which will see the organisation of 6 workshops which will work with young people and those living with Dementia. Details of the workshops will be advertised here, when they become available, you can email us for information

Barry Town Council also offer Dementia Friendly Project Grants. These are aimed at organisations/charities who have a project specific to those living with Dementia and are available at certain times throughout the year.
