Mayor of Barry hosts King’s Honours Reception

A special reception was held on the evening of Friday 8th March, when Barry Town Council welcomed residents of Barry who have been recognised in the King’s Honours lists during 2023 and 2024:

2024
Mr David John O’Sullivan (OBE) for services to eye care in Wales.
Mr Gerald Ronald Joseph Adams (MBE) for voluntary services to the community in the town.
Mr Howard John Provis (MBE) for services to the Welsh Blood Transfusion Service and to the community in Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Beverly Joan Hopkins (BEM) for services to education, to people with disabilities, and to sport.

2023
Jane Hutt MS (CBE) for political and public service.
Mr Vincent Bailey (OBE) for political, voluntary and charitable services.

The recipients were welcomed to the Council Chamber in the Town Hall by the Mayor of Barry, Cllr Ian Johnson and fellow councillors for an opportunity to meet everyone and light refreshments.

Speaking after the reception, Mayor of Barry, Cllr Ian Johnson, said:

“It was a great pleasure to invite all six award winners to the Council Chamber, and to hear about how their work and efforts had benefited the community.”
