50 Year Barry Town Council Photography Competition Rules.

1. Theme: “Barry” – an image that captures the beauty of Barry to the participant. This could be anything from wildlife, beaches, coastal, activities, local shops, nature, landscape, architecture, community spirit and more. The image needs to be of an identifiable area of Barry or can be proven from the participant with meta data or geo tagging from the original digital file.
2. Entry: The participant will need to supply the following information – Full Name, Address, Post Code, Date of Birth, Contact Number, Contact Email, Details and location of the image. The participant must have the photographer’s permission to submit the image and understands that Barry Town Council may use this image in promotional resources.
The competition is open to all ages, however, under 18’s will require additional permissions from parents/guardians. This competition is open to novice, amateur and professional photographers also. Participants can submit up to 3 digital images ONLY – any submitted after this will be disallowed. Entries via the website are the only entries accepted.
3. Deadline: The closing date is Friday 28 June 2024, 4pm. Entries after this date will not be accepted.
4. Photography Law and Copyright: The participant recognizes and accepts that if models under 18 are included in the image, that they have approval of parents/guardians to submit the image into the competition. The copyright will remain with the photographer, however, in submitting the image into the competition you recognize and approve the use of the image by Barry Town Council in any and all of its trading names, for promotional, digital, printed and commercial use with no fees associated; including being used to promote Barry and the work of the Council. The participant may only submit the image to this competition if it is an original photographic image of their own taking.
5. Image: The participant is allowed to submit an image in any of the following formats – PNG, JPG, RAW, HEIC, GIF, PDF, PSD. The image submitted will need to be at least 1MB and a high-resolution image is preferred. If unable to supply this at the time of submission Barry Town Council may be in touch after the closing date to obtain a high-resolution image. Images are NOT to include any logos, text or copyright proofing written on them in any way.
6. Notification of Winning: Barry Town Council will contact the winner(s) via email and/or phone after the closing date listed in (3). Prizes will then be available to collect from Barry Town Council’s offices at Town Hall, King Square, Barry. CF63 4RW
7. No Contact: In the event of us being unable to contact the winner, runners-up after a reasonable number of attempts, or if incorrect information has been entered into the entry forms which results in us becoming unable to contact you, your position in the competition will be given to the entrant next in line, all lower winners will move up and a new entry will be awarded. We cannot be held responsible for any consequences that occur as a result of incorrect information on the entry form.
8. Right to Amend: Under exceptional circumstances, and if we believe it to be necessary, we reserve the right to add, cancel or alter any rules of the competition at any time, in the interest of the participants and without prior notification.
9. These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales. This competition is administered by Barry Town Council.
