Local Events - Spring

In February (usually the last two weeks) both the Vale of Glamorgan County Borough Council and the Town Council participate in events aimed at promoting Fairtrade in Barry and in the Vale as a whole. This is all part of the quest to promote Wales as the world’s first fairtrade country.

In April, usually coinciding with Easter, the Barry Island Amusement Park and Funfair swings into action, opening its gates to tourists from near and far.

In May (usually on the second Monday in the month), Barry Town Council plays host to its annual Mayor-making ceremony. All are welcome to attend this long-established occasion, which takes place in the large theatre located within the Memorial Hall and Theatre building, adjacent to the Town Council’s offices on Gladstone Road.
