Leisure Facilities

For residents and thousands of annual holidaymakers alike, Barry has a wide range of leisure amenities. With the choice ranging from beautiful sandy beaches to leisure facilities and plenty of places to shop, eat and drink, there really is something for everyone.
Barry has two leisure centres and a number of other sports facilities. Barry Leisure Centre in the centre of town was opened by Princess Anne in 1981, and offers opportunities for a wide range of activities. Facilities include a main 25-metre swimming pool, a small pool for children and learners, plus a hydroslide, squash courts, a range of fitness classes, health suite and a spacious games hall used for badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, tennis and volleyball.
Barry sports centre on Colcot Road caters for outdoor sports, boasting an all-weather pitch used for cricket, football, hockey, lacross, netball and rugby. There is also a hall for recreational and social activities and a Hammer Gym with bodybuilding room and rotogym multi-exerciser.
Holm View leisure centre on Skomer Road, is a multipurpose centre with facilities for badminton, 5-a-side football, basketball, netball, and squash (with recently refurbished courts).
The new sports hall built at Cadoxton Primary School is also a community facility offering a range of dry leisure uses.
